Hi readers! After a two week break I’m back for another year of blogging. I just want to reflect back on this year and talk a little about the next.
For me, this year has been one of the best. In fact, I’m having trouble remembering a year as great as this while I sit here. Not to say the years before were bad, quite the opposite, but the Lord has done so much and taught me so much, it feels a lot more significant in the grand scheme of things. And of course, I finished my final year of school, so that might have something to do with it.
The music this year (music is a huge part of my life, so I just have to talk about it) has been truly amazing. Each month produced at least two stellar albums. But I see a movement in where music is going, especially this year. Beginning with Switchfoot’s Fading West, I’ve noticed a lot of music that’s been released this year has been very joyful and carefree. I’m not sure if this is where the Lord has been going, but I’ve really felt that He has been teaching me the same thing. To be joyful and free. Of course there have been struggles, but compared to the freedom I’ve realized this year, they’ve felt incredibly small.
I think as Christians we can get overwhelmed by the rules and regulations needed to follow to be seen as Christian, and as a result, joy takes the back seat. At least, that’s how it is for me. I’ll be honest, I’m a pretty ridiculous person 😀 When around friends, I tend to say stupid things, but it makes me, and those around me laugh. For example, yesterday we went to the beach with friends, and as we were packing we did a check to make sure we got everything needed, so I said, “Have we got the Broccoli?” Stupid, I know, (as a fact, I really love Broccoli) but I find it really funny. I think we need more of that (not the stupid stuff, but the joy felt from it).
So for New Year’s, a lot of people, and Christians, will be making vows to never do this and that again. It’s commendable to try to abstain from too much chocolate and couch potatoing (yes I’m a writer, but I’m not afraid to ask, “is that a word?”), but the vow I’m going to make is to enjoy more of life and my relationship with God. Just enjoy the gift Jesus gave us.
Now for blog updates. I’ve been thinking of bringing movie reviews into the mix as well as album and book reviews (I finished Frank Peretti’s Illusion a few weeks ago, so I’ll be writing a review of that very soon). A lot more of my personal thoughts and teaching. A couple of series are coming which I’m really excited for, plus a whole lot more Q & A on my youtube channel of the same name as this very blog (you also may see a few short movies coming in the near future). In the end, I’m going to make Luc’s Novelties better than ever, and I’m really excited!
So that ends my New Year’s rambling, and to all my readers…. Happy New Year!
